Transportation & Travel

Getting To Seattle

The closest airport to the Hyatt Regency Seattle, the hotel downtown where all Conference activities will be taking place, is the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (also known as Sea-Tac). Located just under 15 miles (or a 20-25 minute drive) from the Conference hotel, the Sea-Tac airport is the closest option for attendees flying to this year's Conference. Click here to be directed to the hotel website’s Maps, Parking & Transportation page for directions.

Getting From the Airport to the Hotel

Link Light Rail

Sound Transit's Link light rail is an easy and affordable option for getting to the Hyatt Regency Seattle downtown from Sea-Tac International Airport and back again, with an adult fare costing between $2.25–$3.25 (ORCA cards, see below). Depending on the time of day, the ride takes about 40 minutes to travel from Seat-Tac to the Westlake Station on the Red Line. Visit the Sound Transit website for more information.

Shuttle & Courtesy Vehicles

Hotel courtesy shuttles pick up and drop off passengers on the third floor of the airport parking garage at Islands 1 & 2. Shared-ride vans and airport services are available to passengers outside door 00 at the south end of the main terminal on the baggage-claim level. Shuttle Express Downtown Airporter offers shuttle service for under $20 per person to downtown Seattle hotels. Learn more on the Visit Seattle website.

Getting Around Seattle

Walking

While there are plenty of options for getting around Seattle, WA (see below), one of the best — and cheapest! — options in this beautiful city is walking! The Conference hotel (Hyatt Regency Seattle) at which all Conference activities take place is located right downtown Seattle and within walking distance to a great number of restaurants, shops and stores, and landmarks.

  • Shopping at Pacific Place (0.1 mile, 2 min walk) and Westlake Center (0.2 mile, 4 min walk)
  • Pike Place Market & Seattle Great Wheel: 0.5 mile, 11 min walk
  • Seattle Aquarium: 0.8 mile, 18 min walk
  • Space Needle: 0.9 mile, 20 min walk
  • Chihuly Garden and Glass: 0.9 mile, 20 min walk
  • Museum of Pop Culture: 0.9 mile, 20 min walk
  • Pioneer Square and Underground Tour: 1.1 miles, 24 min walk
  • Olympic Sculpture Park: 1.2 miles, 25 min walk

Weather-wise, July is the best time to visit Seattle and the Pacific Northwest! With sunny skies and minimal rain, make sure to explore the city (and see Mount Rainier from the Great Wheel or Space Needle!) during your downtime, or consider extending your trip beyond the Conference weekend.

King County Metro Transit

King County Metro Transit provides bus services for getting around once in downtown Seattle. Time-tables and route maps are available at the Transit Information Center in the tunnel under the Westlake Center (a 4 minute walk from the hotel) and can be found on the King County Metro Transit website here.

Seattle Streetcars

There are two Seattle Streetcar lines: the South Lake Union line connecting downtown to the South Lake Union neighborhood, and the First Hill line, connecting the Link light rail, the Sounder Commuter Rail and Amtrak, and Metro Transit buses at several points. Visit the Seattle Streetcar website for more information.

Seattle Center Monorail

The iconic Seattle Center Monorail is the nation's first full-scale commercial monorail system and provides a fun, quick, and convenient link between Westlake Center downtown (a 4 minute walk from the Conference hotel) and Seattle Center, home to the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, Museum of Pop Culture, The Children's Museum, and more.

Regular operating hours are between 7:30am and 11pm, Monday-Friday, and from 8:30am to 11pm, Saturday & Sunday. Trains depart every 10 minutes and the trip takes only 2 minutes each way. One-way fare for adults is $2.50. Schedules, information and FAQs are on the Seattle Center Monorail website.

ORCA Cards

ORCA cards are transit passes the can be used on streetcars, light rail, buses, and more (excluding the Washing State Ferries or the Seattle Center Monorail). ORCA cards cost $5; load an all-day regional transit pass onto an ORCA card for $8. Transit pass value covers $3.50 per ride. Visit the ORCA Card website for more information.

Taxis & RideShares

Taxi service is plentiful and economical in Seattle. Taxis use a metered system just like every other city in the country. All taxis also accept credit and debit cards as payment, as well as cash.

Seattle is also home to Ride Sharing options, such as Uber and Lyft, which can be scheduled using smartphone apps available on iOS and Android.

For more information on Seattle transportation, check out the Visit Seattle website.

Hotel Parking

The Hyatt Regency Seattle offers daily Self Parking (No In/Out privileges) and Valet Parking (In/Out privileges included) for attendees arriving by car. Click here for the most up to date information on parking at the Conference hotel.
